Minutes from the July 27, 2021 Board Meeting
 for the Show-Me Cosmopolitan Club

Attendance:  Kay Brejcha (zoom) Brett Benton, Tim Echternach, Elaine McCoy, Bryan McNeill, and Aaron Zaner
  • Bill Tetro is not a member of the board but attended this meeting to give an update.
Treasurer’s report:
We have $1210 in outstanding checks.  Brett is looking into the check for Camp Hickory Hill. Tim tried to meet with them, but it didn’t pan out. Tim mailed it to the camp, but it came back a month later as undeliverable. So, he mailed it to Jessica’s home. The others are to the places we will need to purchase material for them rather than give a cash donation.
  • Bill has renewed our postal box for the year.
  • He has renewed our tax papers with the State of Missouri.  The state will not accept a post office  box address, so Bill used his home address.
  • Bill is working on the taxes to take to Phil Hansen.
  • He needs receipts from delegates to the International Convention to finish paying them.
  • Club Runner is paid thru September, and we hope to have everything transferred to the new program before then.  Dayton is working on this project.
  • Dues have been paid to International.
Walktoberfest:
We need a full committee and someone to step up and chair the committee. Brett volunteered to be on the committee but does not want to chair the committee. The date will be the Sunday, October 3rd. Tim will reserve Lamb Shelter.
Entertainment was discussed. Tim and Brett will investigate the Burney Sisters, but the latest quote was out of our price range. Brett thought that a local attraction may bring in more people. Tim suggested that we work on a better price for shirts.
Ideas for guest speakers:
Gabe Huffington from the luncheon club.
(There are other suggestions from members as well that we are looking into)
Report from the convention:
Overall, everyone had fun.  But the business meeting was not organized and caused a problem. An amendment to the by-laws was voted on and our club members had not received copies of these items.
Dues:  Kay reminded people to bring their dues (cash or check) to the next meeting.
The meeting was adjourned.

General Meeting Minutes - July 1, 2021

Call to order:  The first meeting of the club year was called to order by President Tim Echternach.
Blessing:  Jan Barry gave the blessing over the dinner provided by Hy-Vee catering.
Thank you:  A thank you was voiced to Sara Echternach for decorations that made the meeting place more festive.
Contributions:  Tim announced that the contributions committee is working with the people who are to receive funds.  An actual gift of money could affect eligibility for future grants.  We are working with them to fund a piece of equipment and donate it.
Minutes:  A motion to approve minutes of the previous meeting was made by Dayton Shepherd, seconded by Maxine Powell.  The motion passed.
Donations:  Julie McNeill made a motion to give $150.00 to the St. Charles club’s bowling event.  Bill Giddings seconded the motion.  The motion passed.  This event is being held August 7th, from 1:30 to 4:30.  The event will use all funds for a diabetes “working” dog for a young man in the St. Louis area.
If you remember over a year ago how valuable these dogs are alerted our guest speaker that her “sugar” was low during her speech. And the dog was still in his training stage.
Past Presidents Gift:  Brett Benton presented the past president’s gift.  Brett listed and described some of the activities completed this year in the midst of the pandemic that were led by Tim.  The gift was one that Tim appreciated - a print of the Beatles (all of them) in masks.
Special Presentation:  Maxine Powell presented a special watch that had belonged to her husband, Wayne to Larry Benton.  This watch was of special significance because it had been presented to Wayne thru a Cosmo event.  We were pleased to have Maxine back after Wayne’s death.
Bingo:  Jan Barry requested more help at Bingo concessions.  Kay Brejcha commented that it added considerably to our budget.
Member illness:  It was reported that Clarence Jett is in the hospital.  Jan Goodson has sent a card from the club.  Tim will send his address out in an email so other members can send a card.
Installation of officers:  Larry Benton installed the officers for the new year.
