Cosmopolitan Clubs participate in local and international service projects. The internation project of fighting diabetes is brought home by donating funds to help build the Cosmopolitan Diabetes Center at the University of Missouri Hospitals and Clinics in Columbia, MO. This center celebrated their 25th anniversary in February, 2009. Funds were also donated for the Valerie Millar Juvenile Diabetes Project at the Cosmopolitan Pediatric Center in Sioux Falls, SD.
We are a service club dedicated to enriching our community through Unity, Service and Action. We engage in funraising activities throughout the year and donate funds to Columbia-area not-for-profit organizations. Some of the organizations to which we have provided funding to include:
The Show-Me Cosmo Club only donates to IRS §501(c)(3) organizations. Requests can be made anytime during the year but our main contributions are made prior to the end of our fiscal year which ends on June 30. To be sure of being considered, we request that you have them to us by April 1. We make some contributions during the year but these are normally smaller amounts with the majority being given in May after we have done the majority of our fundraising project for the year so that we know how much money we have to give.
Applications for funding must include the application form. We encourage organizations to also include a cover letter, brochure, project description or any other information which they feel will help explain how the requested donations will benefit the Columbia Community. For answers to any questions about obtaining a contribution from our club, please contact our Club President, our Contributions Chair or one of the committee.
